Default Removable roll bar

After installing an Elda roll bar, can the car be easily converted back to stock? How long would this swap take?

I would like to get a roll bar, and want to know if it is feasible to switch set-ups for street and track driving.

Probably would take a full day each way, with help. I think it's the best looking mod anyway, and +/- on safety (I personally feel more a +).

By +/- on safety, are you referring to the risk of driving with a rollbar an no helmet, or are there other safety issues to consider?

If I were to install a 4-point harness with an Elda rollbar and keep the factory seat, is there still a danger of hitting my head on the bar when I do not have a helmet on? I am 6 feet tall.

At 6 feet you're going to be a lot closer to the bar than I am at 5' 7''. I feel that for me there is a very large safety margin re risk of hitting head (I also sit in a Recaro SPG which is very low, so I am far below and forward of the bar), with the added safety from a roll. Consider that even without a roll bar, you head is still close to metal in the frame of the soft-top, and in a roll, there is that metal (if top is up) as well as the ground that could come down on your head. Consider also that if your head is above the seat headrest and close to the bar, the bar would be a significant risk in a rear-end collision. So you have to decide for yourself.

It's possible to remove an ELDA bar once installed so long as you don't cut your plastic panels or are prepared to get replacements. It can't be done easily and takes about 1/2 day to remove and the rest of the day to put the interior back together. Installing/removing the ELDA bar requires complete diassembly of the interior aft of the seats.

If he were to install/uninstall for tracking then he would not need to cut any plastic, but just run without plastic trim (like I do) for track, then reinstall all the plastic for street (if desired). Still a fair amount of work even if you don't reinstall the plastic for street. The plastic is defintely the more tedious work.

Somewhere in Japan a small Honda engineer is laughing his arss off at us crawling around in the back of our buggies trying to remove & reinstall that GD plastic. With those annoying push pins that are all different from the other pins used in the car. I will not be removing my BAR. My estate will have to make arrangements. It is a major project to install and unstall.
