Default Resurfacing Track pads ?

I bought a set of slightly used AX6's, and put them on for a HPDE back in May.
I noticed though that the car wasn't stopping as smooth as I thought it should. Almost felt like a caliper somewhere was clamping harder than the others.
Maybe it was just in my head though....

I was thinking... and I could be way off here, but I thought I would ask.
Could it have been possible that I put them on differently than the previous owner had them on their car ?

Could it have been the Rotors ?

Is resurfacing an option ?
Maybe having both the pads and rotors resurfaced before the next HPDE ?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Sounds like you have brake judder.
Here is a good write up http://www.zeckhausen.com/avoiding_brake_judder.htm

Great and helpful info Rob!
It very well may have been "brake judder" I can't quite remember if it lasted all weekend, or if it was gone after my 2nd track time of the first day.

Looks like what the article is saying is that the Track pads actually clean the rotors when they are in "Abrasive" mode.
I may be doing an HPDE next month so when I put the AX6's back on, I will see how they act.

Also something else that would be helpful to know.... Is there a way to know when the rotors need to be replaced ?
After two HPDE's and the fact that my car is a daily driver, my rotors show no signs of warpage. I don't know what the life span is over the high heat cycle of track use. Basically I don't want to crack a rotor at the track

I've done 8 HPDE on the same rotors and have 34k on the odo. I use the AX6's and all I've noticed the rotors have changed colors in spots but they still work great. I just keep a spare rotor for when I crack them. Also I mark my pads for driver and passenger side so I install them on the same side. Hope this helps.

good to know the min thickness. I will use a caliper next time I am switching pads to see how close they are.

Nice find!!!

A6 are hardly track pads, they are street pads. You will probably exceed their heat ratings (at least on the front). Maybe consider a XP10 front and 8 rear?
