is anyone else concerned with the height of the harness bar with the console and factory hoops in?
seems kinda high? issues??

I support the hard-dog bar as well (well I got mine from the Go Fast Lab period), and unfortunately can add my own crash photos.
I disagree with hard though, I thought the installation was relatively easy (I didn't try trimming the interior or putting it back to streetable though).

i'm surprise they let you run with the top up.
looks like the soft top collapse and the frame could have punctured you.
The groups, guidelines, and reasoning for top up vs. down when it comes to safety are all over the map.
Some people seem to feel that the bows will somehow break into piercing shards of death , though this is exceedingly unlikely for hollow tubular steel sleeved in cloth. It just bends, simple.
Other people insist on top up suggesting the minimal protection it might add is going to make all the difference in the world when it comes to things like the roll-hoop digging-in to the gravel (in the case of my roll-over), or things external to the car flying about and hitting you.
I think there is no absolute proven or quantifiable truth to whether top up or down is indeed safer, though windows down always is a given.
At most courses top up is faster just due to better aero on the straights. It makes about 5-8 mph difference in top speed at Road America on the two pretty big straights.

i agree that it's faster with top up due to aero, and i run top up when the tech let me but that almost never happens.
top up will also protect your limbs from flapping around and potentially ripped off. but you can't really say for certain that the tubes will not brake off and provide a sharp edge. in your case, the roof was hit pretty flat on so it just cave in but it could have been different if there were some more side force. it might be that 99% of the times the tubes just bend, but it only takes that 1% for the tubes to break off and go through your neck, chest or helmet visor.
also, the tech is not going to have time to thoroughly inspect the soft top of every convertible to see if the design is safe enough for it to be allowed up. Honda is pretty well committed with safety, so i'm sure the soft top was design to collapse in a certain way. but that can't be said for all convertible cars.
