Default Roll Bars

Does anyone know of an scca approved roll bar that is available for the S2000? Am I going to have a custom one made? If so, should I just go ahead and have a full cage built?

full cage on a daily driven car is a bad idea.

Search this forum if you're not sure why.

9kI4, I live in Johnson City, TN, about 5 hours west of you (I actually went to NCSU and lived in Raleigh until 1.5 years ago), and I'm running into the same problem. I want to HPDE my car, but don't have a tow vehicle and need it be street legal and driveable, so I'm looking into a custom solution. I want to replace the stock rollbar on my S so it will be farther back, I'm not sure if you want to keep your stock bars or not.

Anyways, I'm looking into either Piper motorsports near DC (http://www.pipermotorsports.com/), or Kirk Racing in Birmingham (http://www.kirkracing.com) as reliable well known shops that can build SCCA legal bars. If you're interested, we should keep in touch and possibly even use the same shop if we're looking for the same thing.

Damned easy for you to say, West Coaster Try having a track only car when the nearest road course is about 4 hours away and is $Texas to run on. Then decide if you want to keep your car legal enough to run the Dragon (2 hours away, and free) when you don't have the time/money/opportunity to go to a track. Not that you can or should drive to the same level, but at least you can still enjoy the car.

If it's a daily a custom roll bar is much cheaper anyway.

lol, I've always just loved that term for describing expensive things...stupid and old, but still funny IMHO.

Now lets talk about West Coast living costs...
Believe me, I know...our company headquarters is out in the Bay Area and I spend a few weeks a year out there. I love flaunting the fact that my rent is about 1/8th of most of my friends out there, heheh. You definitely have an awesome selection of tracks in California though. Maybe I should just keep my S in storage out there and make a lot of conveniently scheduled work trips

Why? You can't get the seat any further back. I guess you could incline it more, if you want.

IMO, the only way to get better than OEM stock that is really worth doing is to remove the softtop and weld in a custom roll bar. The ELDA/GFL bars (and various others) are compromised in order to allow the softtop mechanism to fit. And even though they are "bolt-in" they still require some significant automotive surgery.

I put my money and my life where my mouth is with this one ... I ran stock for three years but just this fall gutted the rear of the car and had a custom bar welded in.
