Default ROTOR: turn or replace?

I am about to freshen up my brake, i ordered all four oe replacement online but they ended up being back order and will not make it here on time for the next hpde day.

my current rotor has about 30k miles on it, it definitely needs to be turned if not replaced.

Front: 25new 23min <actual=24.5>
Rear: 12new 10min <actual=11.5>

so here is my big question: how many meat left will i have after it turn those rotors? there's obviously some groove/wear to the rotor.

Am i save for turning or should i try to get them locally?(which will be mated with new pad)

thanks

Why do you feel they need to be turned/replaced? More material means better heat sinks but it's not like you're below limits. Is there a symptom you're trying to address besides some minor scoring? All rotors score to some degree - it's normal.

^exactly. For trackdays etc you should be replacing your rotors because of cracks, not mileage

Yup. And before you ask ... you will know when it is time to replace them. You will start to feel a quickly growing "judder" when you hop on the brakes.

I never found turning worth it. Some exotic pads do get a surface coat that can buildup unevenly. But the judder I get is from warped disks and the warping can't be removed by just cutting the disk. It works for about a day.

well, for one it's not warped but there's some noticable scoring and grooves to it. there's no funky pedal movement or anything, it just the pad is almost gone and i would like to replace the pad.

do you guys think i will still have enough meat left after i turn the rotors? or i should invest in a new set?

local part store wants 70 per rotor for the front

interesting question...

i have 94K miles on my original rotors.

i've been to 3 track events using cobalt spec vr on the front and gts on the rear.

i'm going to my 4th track event 4/13 using the same rotors.

i've never measured the thickness, but i will replace them when they crack...

i ordered rotors from carbotech at $40 for front and $28 for rear in case my rotors crack at the track...

I wouldn't do a thing to the rotors. Re-measure them after the event. Sounds like this is your first event - you likely won't notice any issues at all. With seat time and experience it'll be worthwhile to change pads and have specific rotors for track days. The only thing you should do for now is flush the braking system with new fluid and consider putting a more boil-resistant fluid in although you probably won't heat it enough to notice a problem if it's your first outing...
