I'm a pretty firm believer that these tires are a bit better than my previous sets Star Specs. I just picked up a full set in 225/255 on AP2 wheels and just driving somewhat spiritedly around they felt stickier. They're a lot noisier than the Star Specs as well and I can hear them hummm over my Greddy SE Single exhaust. They do need some warming up also to get them working nicely. I'm pretty excited to run them at Big Willow next Saturday.

Haven't driven too spritedly yet in these starspecs but I can definitely tell that starspecs does not require as much heat as the RS-3s I had.

I've always wanted to get a set of star specs but ever since I tried out the RS-3s, I've been hooked on them. Will most likely go back to running RS-3s when my friend gets enough money to buy these off of me.

Noise wise, to me the Starspecs seemed to hum more, but maybe I was just used to the RS-3 noise.

I wish you luck at Big Willow next sat. Trust me, you won't be disappointed in these tires!

I'd like to know if anyone has tried out the Hankooks on stock size wheels on the stock springs, especially if it was for autocross. I am choosing between another set of Dunlops (225/255) and a set of Hankooks. It sounds like maybe I can't get enough camber out of the stock adjusters to make the Hankooks happy. This is for Stock-on-street-tires classes.

The Hankook are especially sensitive to camber, probably because of the soft sidewall. They also take longer to get up to temperature as well. These two reasons make the Dunlops perhaps a better choice than Hankooks for autocross.

I have been using them on my car which has a larger front sway and 255's all around but is otherwise stock. Stock height and camber up front set at 1.8. I have loved them so far. It took me a while to get used to really having to beat on them to fully utilize the grip that they have as opposed to r compounds with a stiffer sidewall, but once I did I have found them to be great.

I'm not familiar with AutoX, but do you guys run higher pressures?

On-track, it takes noticeably longer to get them up to temp. I can easily get the Star Specs up to temp even in 1 lap at a short track, whereas the RS-3 usually take 2.

I cant comment on star specs because I have never run them but I do notice that it takes me at least one or two runs to get some heat into the tires during autox with the rs3's

I do live in canada though so take that for what it is worth. That being said I typically run around 38psi front 36 psi rear with my current set up.

Not sure about comparative pressures but bear in mind that in a 1 min autox the tires are side loaded for cornering or slaloming for the vast majority of the time. Whereas on a road course there are a lot more going straight.

for empirical data the results of the STR class at nationals showed the hankooks clearly outperforming the dunlops on the S2000. Also the STR prep resource thread has a lot of data and opinions showing that the Hankook performs better for autox.
