I signed up and took advantage of the membership offer--seems like a good deal if you want to be timed.

Looking forward to it, and thanks for your efforts.

Good point Tedster made about the heat management mods. Was up getting dynoed today and someone said that horsepower dropped 20 when the hood was closed due to engine compartment heating. Not as big a problem when the car's in motion of course, and not a problem in January, but most likely would be for later Buttonwillow events.

I'm there! I would suggest using the SCCA classification system since many know it and have their cars prepped for it. Handycapping is cool too. I would not be in favor of driver handicaps (based on experience). Ultimately one would like to make the cars as even as possible with only driver skill as the difference so we can compare driver to driver rather than car to car.

Oh, my mods:

STB, x-brace, front sway bar, springs only, K&N air filter.

BTW this is an awesome idea!

Calc - yep, membership is a good deal, even more so now that we've added 3 more events for the season to our calendar....I guess I should go update the web page to reflect that

Cthree - Aaron's in charge of the S2000 classing, while I'm doing the other cars. What that means is that the S2000 classes are ultimately Aaron's, but we don't intend to class "drivers", just the cars into competitive groups (as much as Aaron might like to class Hayashi into the stratosphere).

Doug's not that old John!

Anyway, here's the latest classification system. I can't seem to modify my original post due to a 110,011,010 second statute of limitation of some kind (still waiting for an exemption from C3). This new system allows the SCCA stock solo2 guys to run in the MODIFIED classes. Despite the fact that some will say springs are worth more than shocks, others will say the opposite. But, the SCCA guys should win anyway, right?

C3: re. your suggestion that we follow SCCA rules. You'd have to take a lot of parts off of your car! (your x-brace, springs, and throttle body?). Most people would. So, we're trying to fit the SCCA classes into the real and constantly changing world of S2000 modifications.

We plan on having an "awards ceremony" at each event and tallying up points for a 2002 Championship. The modification rules may change event-to-event until we get settled on a system that works. But at least it will be fair at each event.

Thanks for signing up everyone. At some point this classification might be moved to the top of the post again:

STOCK
Tires: up to 245 width rear tire, 100+ treadwear
Stock wheels only
