Yea our courses are always tight. Going to a big track like the Blytheville national tour feels like a road course.

I jailbroke the phone and downloaded btstack. I had to buy it twice to get it to take off the demo mode. I'll update in a few days once I get the gps.

For example, you can say how fast/slow you are on one run vs. another. screen capture from ihpone:

You can also compare lateral and linial acceleration on a similar screen, and if you have the OBD input, the engine RPM.

The shaded area shows where you are gaining/losing time between the two runs. You can also zoom in to a particular area of a course to see the details of gain/loss. See image below comparing one particular turn as highlighted on the course segment. The width of the graph matches the segment highlighted on the course. The reference lap in this case is slower than the one being compared. In the better lap you can see that a lot more speed was carried into the turn.

The screen on the iPhone can be rotated in this view to allow better viewing.

You can basically do everything you would do on a PC including opening the KML file in Google Earth.

Random1,

Is there a way to get those exact displays in Laptimer onto a PC with a freeware program? Google Earth is nice, but the diagram comparison seems like an easier way to process the data sometimes.

You can view them in larger size on an iPad with full interaction. As for a PC there is nothing that I know of that would allow these particular plots to be viewed and manipulated. Certianly print screens on the iPhone can be viewed in larger size on a PC. Otherwise you would need to find an app on the PC that can import the data. I have not looked for apps to plot data, but I know they are out there.

How much is bstack? I haven't jailbroken my phone to see the pricing?

Also have you had a chance to compare the internal gps to the qstarz?

Bstack is actually called btstack and it's $5.00. I can sent you everything you need to jailbreak your phone if your on Verizon. If your on AT&T you'll have to get it offline.

I haven't done testing yet but it will just have a better update rate with more data points. It will be just like robs graphs

to explain alittle better...

with this gps unit the data will be alot more accurate. When the program uses the internal gps it only updates 1 time a second. so it has to "make up" the rest of the data. for example, say within 1 second your speed changed 6mph, it would read 40mph then one second later read 46mph but on your videos and data it "shows" the change in speed. Even though it not "true" data. So the graphs and position might not be 100% correct. With a aftermarket gps like the one I got in the mail today it updates t 10 times a second for alot more accurate data. Also the gps unit position is alot better. On the internal one it might say accuracy "36ft" or somthing but so far this unit stays in the 2 feet range.

I'm trying to figure out how/where to mount the gps. I want it high but I'm worried about having it to far away from the phone and not transfering data fast enough. I was thinking about making a box and putting it beside the phone on the modifry mount but I'm worried about what would happen if I box it in. I guess I could tape it down but that would look lame. Rob how did you mount yours?

If anyone has any questions regarding issues with the qstar or jailbreaking the verizon Iphone you can email me at josh7owens@yahoo.com. I would get back to that faster then posting on here since I only check s2ki once every few hours if that.
