Porterfield quoted me $1700 for the black Wilwood 6-pot kit with 2-piece slotted rotors and hats, including Raybestos ST-43 pads. I think I'm going for it.

Does anyone use the stoptech bbk? Is there a reason why one would go with the AP BBK over stoptech or are they about the same?

They're essentially the same. Different designs and methodology for the same goal.

I dont know that much about the AP but the stoptech seems like a good way to go. Pads are easy to get and swap in and out and replacement rings and hardware is around 460 shipped.

Do slotted rotors help?

Also, for the people who have rotor cracking issues, what temperature do your front brake rotors get to after a session? I used my infrared temp gauge and my front rotors were 300 degrees after a 20 minute session with a 1 lap cool down and another 3 minutes of cool down driving around the pit area.

FYI, I have 2" brake ducting on the front rotors.
Totally unscientific, but I came off track after 2 laps at Buttonwillow back in may, and the infrared was saying my rotor temps were in the 700's
Sounds about right. Your rotors are probably around or above 1,000*F out on track - like during most race conditions.

And Shame on you Richard for this thread. There's plenty of threads already out there on this topic! :-P

If the 2-piece rotors solve the cracking problem, I think I might go with them instead of BBK for 3 times the price. I wonder if 2-piece rotors AND ducting would do the job, it would still cost way less than BBK.
