Mike, never experienced that. where do you get this conclusion from?!

what year of car are you talkin about?
I'd imagine all years, I experienced just this in my 07 w/ UK alignment at NJMP Lightning just earlier this week.

I was thinking about alignment settings the other day, seeing how my car is at the track more and more. I'm running a somewhat pushy 215/245 RE-01R setup, although the car will still happily rotate to oversteer like mike described. By modifying UK alignment, if I'm looking for just an overall increase in grip, would going from the standard -1* front & -2* rear camber to say -2* front & -2.5* or -3* rear help out with that?

-1 just isn't enough for hard driving. You really want to max the front camber from my experience.

Thanks for the input guys. I noticed between sessions that the outside edges of the tires, particularily the front have the most wear. Something I forgot to mention since they are not very common in the US, the tires are what you call R compound. I think I'll have a go at increasing the camber and rear toe. What effect would increasing front toe-in have?

I also understand that the car basically pushes first then transitions to oversteer, my concern is that I would like it to push less. I have been thinking of possibly replacing the rear sway bar with that of an ap1 car since it is thicker and in theory should reduce roll and increase oversteer, but I haven't come across others that have done this. so don't know if it's a good idea.

Regarding the brake pads, I'm not too happy with the DS2500, I might have a look at the Carbotechs. I think I may have overheated the brakes as I started getting a spongy pedal towards the end of the session. Also my discs aren't cracked or worn down significantly, but they've been overheated and have turned purple/blue and i suspect they may be slightly warped - should I change them or have them turned?

By the way, regarding the slow corners fast and fast corners slow, this is something I suspect I was guilty of doing on a number of occasions. I have onboard video evidence that can prove it it's something I'm improving with every trackday.
hi. Spongy pedal might be due to fluid fade.

If it is, many owners have done up threads of brake ducting to increase air flow to the brake calipers and brake discs in order to increase cooling. This promotes longer fluid, brake disc & brake pad life.

I have done one such setup and have been tweaking it. I can do a couple of 10hot lap stints at a track day without a spongy pedal feel on a hot afternoon with >50 deg C track days. This can last for a total of 2 track days plus 10,000 street driving kms when previously I would have boiled the fluids before the end of the 1st track day only doing 5 lap stints.

Friends of mine who have tracked with their S without ducting have gotten cracked brake rotors with thicker rotors remaining. We use the same brake pads.

I will post up my tweaked setup in time to come and you are welcome to see if its useful for you

(btw DS2500 are what I use as well)
