Not sure how many of you are doing this, but I installed my at an angle such that I could increase caster as well as camber. Picture isn't the greatest, but if you enlarge the it, you will see the angle is not aligned with the control arm.

This is what I got before alignment.

I didn't think to try that, but I was able to get 7 degrees of caster with the bottom plate installed normally, and -3.5 degrees of camber.

That's cool, Bryan. My car was caster-challenged even after replacing control arms, hence my attempt.

When putting the ball-joint into the slotted plate in the direction for neg camber, and then trying to slide it as far inboard as possible, the ball joint interferes with the thickened part of the control arm before it reaches even close to the end of the slot for adjustment.

Does anyone here have any insight into this?
I didn't notice this problem. Are you sure the bottom plates are completely pressed in and flat?

1. Thanks SC_Highlander for confirming I wasn't hi, drunk, or crazy when I did these

2. Robrob, yes I'm absolutely sure they're flat.

3. FF2Skip, I read about that idea, but didn't plan on it....until now. If I can't use the full adjustment for camber, I might as well potentially get some caster out of it.

4. Emilio, now you're making me feel bad for not having bought them from you. I didn't even know. I just picked the closest dealer from the SPC site, which was also in somebody's DIY I was following.

Emilio, you might be able to confirm one thing for me. The SPC part number for this is supposed to be 672220 , however etched into the parts themselves is 672201-034. Do you know if this is normal, or f'ed up?

Thanks everyone for chiming in.

-Steve

These numbers are on all 4 balljoint sets that I received:

Part number on box: 67220
stamped on balljoint: 672201-034
stamped on lower plate: 67222
stamped on upper plate: 67224

Thanks SC_Highlander, it was the number on the ball joint I was checking and you've both confirmed that and the fitment/range of adjustment issue. I really appreciate it.

Thanks again everyone.

I'm hoping I don't need these but if I do this thread has some good info to reference. I really like the idea of making the top plate perpendicular to lock it in place.

Bump. Going to put the top plate perpendicular today. The joint slides... when you spin on R-comps autocrossing...

^ I think the joint slid on me as, as well. I am going to put in the J's kit in the front, and move the SPC to the rear, with the top plate perpendicular.
