Has anyone stripped the SPC upper nut? I put my torque wrench on mine tonight to torque them down to 120ft lbs, and the nut stripped. I'm beginning to think I'm cursed after the TCD arm failed and now this guy is busted before I even get the car back together!

 

I'm super careful with that nut since it's so shallow. Is the nut stripped or did you just round off the head? I wonder if you could find an acceptable temp solution from a local ACE hardware store.

 

Mine are kinda f-ed up from the last 2 years of messing with them...
I am thinking about setting them and welding the nut to the joint once I get it kinda tight...

 

The treads inside the nut stripped. They fell out when I pulled the nut back off.

 

Hmm.... I *do* have a welder!

 

all you should have to do is get them set and weld the crap out of the stud, nut, and plate...

I think they still need to get tight so they dont spin but I could be wrong..
have not looked at them in a while....

Just make sure you weld them nice so you can post pictures

 

If you had ever seen any of my welds, you would realize the futility of that statement. I can stick 2 pieces of metal together, but it ain't pretty.

So, I called SPC today and talked to 3 different folks, they agreed that there was something wrong and that the parts are under warranty. They had me go back through my vendor, though, for replacements, which seemed kind of odd. Anyway, I should have a new set early next week.
