Forget about me and that Miata for the next 2 yrs, I am committed to making at least one appearance at the SCCA runoffs by 2016.

After that i may take a year off from racing to buy a retirement home down south (near a race track).

THEN I can plan on whats next for me....

Funny my whole life I rebelled against the idea of going down to Florida, too stereotypical for a Jewish New Yorker, but I have to say the idea of so many race tracks and yr round racing it may be back in the cards!

FYI - I am not sold on Florida, could be the Carolina's or Georgia. Some place that is close to mid-way so i can be in Florida or NY in a one day drive.

Being a peninsular state we are somewhat isolated from the masses of racers. NASA SCCA and PBOC all have low turnout for events. We are in the proccess of recovering but I wouldnt want to see the books for the club treasurers. What im getting at is the competition and participation is thin unless ur running SM. I made the trek to RA and ran in Santas Toy Run in DE and could not believe there were more race cars there than DE cars. Florida is the opposite at the moment. Plant yourself far enough north to run with South East but enough south to join us at Sebring and Daytona once a year.

E30s are pretty fun, but they have their own slew of problems too. Mine was quite enjoyable, but left me stranded twice (my fault, I guess - it was a 27 year old car. I should have changed the fuel lines and the clutch slave cylinder along with all the other stuff I did restoring it).

I wonder how rampant cheating is in SE30. I always knew SM was a big giant "if you're not cheating, you're not winning." And even more than that, "if you're not cheating, you're not competitive."

I remember somewhere in the country is a spec Ariel Atom series... that looks like fun. SRF also looks pretty fun too.
I have replaced the entire fuel system and the clutch slave cylinder on both the E30s I have owned, haha. I have been racing SpecE30 for three years. I can tell you that at no point did I feel like I lost because someone was cheating. We are a very open group, and we for the most part know what it takes to win and that is a recently refreshed motor making between 150 and 160 whp, a fresh set of Toyo RRs, and a whole heap of talent. My motor made 155 whp after its first race weekend, I generally get three weekends out of my Toyo RRs, and I have slightly better than middle of the pack talent. It is a great time, and a great group to hang out with especially in the Southeast and Florida regions.

Good to know. I'd like to do SE30 one of these days - although i'm thinking SE36 or SE46 might be the cheaper alternatives.

Sadly, I'm thinking w2w racing is going to be something that I only get to watch on TV, unless I can somehow increase my earnings by 2-3 fold.

I think i'm going to start looking into karting...

In fairness, the S2000 has known issues with broken A-arm attachment points, rear hub failure, diff failure, synchro wear and rear suspension travel, too. Though, it would seem not to that extent.
