Default Spec S2000 like Spec Miata

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried with SCCA or NASA to create a Spec S2000 class like Spec Miata? Maybe not enough interest due to cost, or whatever?

Yea, it's pretty much a cost and chassis supply issue. Building an S2000 race car is expensive due to the initial cost of a car. The go-fast parts and consumables are also much more expensive.

The closest thing you'd see would be Honda Challenge H2.

235MM Toyo RA1's, factory suspension, factory wheels, factory motor, factory aero...but you'll have to run against a mix of other Hondas too.

I think it would be difficult with the limited number of s2000's made.

It would be cool though. I was thinking about it when Nismo started Spec-Z in NASA. I thought it would be cool if HPD did a similar thing. Really, the cars could just be gutted S2000's (with varying minimum weights for AP1 and AP2) along with CR aero and suspension. Similar to SCCA T3 S2000's (from my understanding).
