Default Stock gauge cluster removal

So I've heard (no data to back this up) that if you remove the factory key and the stock gauge cluster that you will lose power steering. Is this true? Also is there any other things I need to be aware of before doing this? Here's what the interior of my car looks like in case you're wondering why I'm considering doing this.

Yes that is true. There are other things you will lose but they won't matter to you eg. heated rear screen, intermittent wipers and indicators.

When I fitted my race tech dash I pulled the Oem dash apart and pulled the main circuit board out wrapped it in electrical tape and plugged the plugs in and it saved a lot of space and everything works

There is a speedo signal OUT from the ECU that needs to be stepped down. From 167K to 4K. I used the Dakota Digital SGI-5 to do that. One of the outputs gos to my EPS and another goes to my aftermarket dash (DL1, Dash2).

I know this is old but I’m looking for some help. I appreciate the above very much and I’ve wired up an SGI-5 with the blue and white VSS (speedo) as input and using output 4 (4000ppm) to the EPS control unit. Will it work as wired or does the SGI-5 require further calibration?
