Just get the valves checked out and keep checking it should be fine with whatever retainers
Realy is there a situation in an auto-x you need to run an ap2 to 9k because you are caught between 2nd/3rd that bad?
i think that would be an unlucky course that day

I'm sure if you revved your ap2 to 9k at 3 races a year it wouldn't hurt it. Also I don't think we can legally change our ap1 intake retainers to ap2 ones

Ditto @ 8500. Blytheville and Nashville this year. I am just getting a handle on driving and once I really figure out how to keep more of my speed in corners it is going to be more problematic.
If you have it pegged for that long, your just lossing time. I ran an event last season where at 2 different spots I would hit the limiter for at least 7 hits(bah, bah, bah, bah, bah, bah, bah). During fun runs later that afternoon I decided to shift to 3rd and gained over half a second over my fastest run.
Ap2, tuned w/ FP and redline set to 8500.

It seems to me, if you're sitting on the rev limiter like some people are saying, you really should be shifting to 3rd. I'll shift if I'm sitting on the limiter for more than a 3 seconds or so.
I'm not reflashed, so I can't say for sure, but it seems like with a lowered VTEC engagement and more low end torque, you'd be better off short shifting third slightly than banging on the rev limiter for more than a few seconds.
