I'm about to DD my STR car and it has a replica of what you posted in this thread (thanks again for sharing that, it rocks!!). I'm wondering how long the fiberglass insulation will last with spirited DD. Do you DD your S2K with this catback? If so, how is it holding up?

Thanks,

-Dave

I DD it for about 6 months and now it gets driven 1-2 times per week. It's gotten louder than initial installation, but it seems to have settled out. I like it better now. No issues with sound at the San Diego Tour (93 dB limit). Many cars were obviously louder, like Nissan GTR

I noticed that it seemed louder than when I originally had it installed. I'm glad to hear that it stabilized at a certain level vs. getting worse and worse (and be under 93dB). I too like it better than the original sound.

Thanks for the quick reply on this!

Bump for updates...has anyone had a chance to dyno their DIY solutions? Seems the T1r 70-EM and EVS 70-SSP make power (granted, that's based on a dyno chart from the vendor, but there seems to be some independent verification at least with the T1R 70) both without and with the right tune--do the Burns and Mugen-replica also? I am looking into the T1R or the EVS, versus making a 3" DIY using the Burns stainless and a resonator of some sort, and using some guesstimates it appears the DIY/Burns idea is pretty close price-wise to the T1R, maybe a little more, give or take a bit. I suspect the Burns idea weighs less than the T1R as well--true?

Speaking of EVS, anyone have experience with it relating to SCCA sound limits? Actually, any experience with it at all from a competition perspective? The thread in the other forum deals more with sound quality/drone which is not my primary concern. It seems to be a reasonable competitor to the T1R 70, but about $100 less...

Thanks!

I jut installed a Toda torque-kin header, berk 70mm HFC, and T1R 70em on my CR. I like it a lot and its not to loud.

My buddy has the EVS and we're at the DC ProSolo this weekend. I'll try and remember to post if he passes sound or not.

Has anyone made or ordered a silencer or turn down... I bought a TIC used but no silencer and I'm not sure I will pass at one of the local venues (92db)

These look like they could be an option but I am also considering experimenting with a custom piece (aka coffee can and steel wool)

I have the EVS 70-SSP & sound readings from NJ Pro were 90 and below. It's a quite exhaust from inside the cabin. But it's loud from the outside and it has a raspy tone to it. It has the least amount of drone I've heard. I don't know if it makes a difference in sound, but I have the EVS 70-SSP with a PLM header & 70mm Berk HFC.

I really like T1R 70-EM! I think it's the best sounding exhaust. It has more drone than the EVS 70-SSP, but the scream at WOT is intoxicating! Both exhausts should past SCCA Solo sound limits. Not sure where you are located, but they will even past Lime Rock's strict sound restrictions.
