Default Stroker VS Supercharger

More for interesting conversation than anything else. Maybe sometime next year.

There's a 2.3L built motor complete with headwork and cams in the 4sale forum right now. He's claiming 275HP on a dyno. Let's assume this is correct...

VS

Stock 5.5PSI Comptech supercharger with aftercooler on an AP1.

Assume both ahve EMS since it would be required to get the most out of the 2.3L.

Which would be faster, and which would be more reliable assuming the car only sees track use?

I'm thinking the 2.3L would be both, assuming you keep the RPM at something reasonable?

Thoughs?

No such thing as a reliable "built motor" (or turbo, for that matter), so SC wins there. The stroker might be quicker though, depending on tune.

What compression is the stroker running? I've had both sc'er and stroker(2.5L) on the track, but not the same track. FWIW, my 2.5L with only 12:1 and Laskey's #2 headwork, header, testpipe, Invidia, AEM EMS only makes just over 240/185.

My CTSC was never stock- at minimum 7# pulley, and was tracked as such. Before it was all said and done, my sc'er setup was just shy of 400/220 w/ a leaky head gasket at close to 10k.

I have to say that I am not disappointed in the stroker setup for the track. In fact, I'm quite happy with it. Both setups have also had 4.57's. It'll be interesting to get back on the same track as when I was FI. BeaveRun is a short track(1.6 miles) and the straights are not long. I believe I should be able to best my previous benchmark, despite being 60hp less.

Not sure if any of that helps, but thought I'd add it since I can't imagine there are too many of us that have actually had both.

Forgot to add the part about weight savings, too. SC'ers aren't light.

well you said down 60 hp to your 400 number

How much did the 2 motors cost if you don't mind me asking. I'm in the same boat as Bill.

But my 2.0L, intake, toda header, custom (nothing fancy) exhuast and ems is putting out 220-225 (245hp on a dynapack) at the wheels and thats with a stock head, etc. I don't get how a 2.5L is only putting out 15-20 hp more.

with 5.5psi and ems you can be making around 300whp or even a little higher, everyone is different. Once you run 5.5 for a while then you just step it up in boost, a good tune will keep you safe . Im running a 3.875" pulley making about 9.3psi at redline. Runs very strong. I reccomend it

realistically the only reliability bill and I need is that it can make it thru a season of racing. I don't mind a yearly rebuild.
