I've been tracking an F22 with a comptech sc and aftercooler for a few years. Setup has been very reliable with no issues. Heat management required an oil cooler. When I stripped the car this year the temps went way down. So far down in fact I've decided the car can handle the extra heat of a turbo.

My experience with a built motor was a disaster and a money pit. Net RWHP gain was about 15 with a stroker.

Even though my qualifying times are generally better than the Evos getting around them in the race is a challenge because of the lack of power with the sc below 6.5k RPM. Real power kicks in about then. SC is fine for time time trials, but IMO has too many disadvantages over turbo for w2w yet has the same impact on classing.

It will be interesting to see how the turbo works out for me next season.

I was hoping you could factor in those details, Ry! 'cause I clicked off a 2.00.79 today w/my half assed setup (1:58 w/bypass yesterday) and I want to know if a sub 1:55 is possible on the full course w/slicks and a proper dialing in of the suspension (for instance, I think the last time I had my car aligned was in '05).

Gotta figure out where the biggest bang for my buck is next year if I want to tear into the sub 2s.
Don't worry, I am not taking it very personally either, but atleast we have a baseline to shave time from and a goal to move toward.

thanks not sure how that helps the thread tho.
Whole point of my somewhat off-topic ramble was that I'd take an internally stock motor with an SC anyday over an internally modded one.

What about a built top end? Port/polish, cams, with an AEM. Leaving the bottom end stock.

I've got to freshen the head this winter anyway.

PM Asura. I went with a real basic setup (ti retainers/hd springs, no p/p), but I should have gone with more while it was all apart (I needed it back fast, though, and had limited $$$ to play with). He's got a spare head, so you can get the sucker built up w/o having to send your head in and wait for it to be completed. Asura is also is AEM EMS certified and has tons of data on cam profiles, too.

Hey Asura---just make sure you install a switch on my car that I can flip to take 40hp out of Bill's car if I need to .

This is a very interesting topic to me. I just can't seem to understand why an All motor stroked engine can't be more reliable than stock. Assuming you aren't going to extreme on compression (sub 13:1) and aren't reving the snot out of it (under 9krpm), I'd think the upgraded hardware of the internals and attention to detail of a custom build wouldn't the engine be more reliable. Granted the Honda internals are exceptional, but a set of Pauter rods, Wiseco pistons, custom (brand?) crankshaft built to spec, and aftermarket (brand?) valve train would be superior? Maybe I'm missing something? Just curious and would like some insight?
