Default Thunderhill

BTW, a group from the PacNW (mostly non S2K folks) is going to THill in April and I decided to give it a shot. Wish me luck. Two days with the Norcal Shelby folks and a day with CFRA. April 22-24.

You're gonna love THill. Three days in a row! Damn...some people from N.CA don't get three days total there all year.

My .02 for track-related stuff: Get to the track early and grab a parking spot under the roof-structure in the middle of the pits. Else you might end up stuck out in the rain or the sun. Also, THill can be pretty hard on your brakes.

My .02 for non-track-related stuff: Stay at the Best Western Golden Pheasant (ask for the THill discount) and gain 10lbs eating at the Black Bear Diner across the street. In town about the closest you'll get to a grocery store is a liquor store....so pack accordingly.

Oh and of course, watch for the CA Hwy Patrol on the freeway and make sure everyone sticks to the speed limit on the in-town road to and from the track.

Agree on everything but the brakes. Thill is probably the easiest track (except big willow) on the brakes in CA. Not saying it doesn't tax them but compared to Laguna, Buttonwillow, Streets of willow its really easy on them. Sears and Thill I bet are the same.

I wish I could make it up there to say hello, but I race laguna w/ SCCA that weekend.

I thought Thill is very tough on brakes, esp. T10 and T14, and T3. My first time there way back there were broken rotors on S2000s and even broken spokes on a Z06. But that's why you are so fast there.... less braking.

Getting there early isn't going to happen. I'll be staying in Ashland OR Fri night. The Shelby Club thing is actually Sat afternoon and all day Sunday (they are doing a novice school Sat morning).

I have a room at the Golden Pheasant. I expect to be going out with the Shelby Club Sat night and with the PacNWers Sunday night.

I'll be careful on the highway, thanks. BTW, on the interstates how agressive are the CHP on the trailer speed limit? IIRC, in CA it is 55mph compared to 70mph without a trailer?

I agree there are tracks harder on brakes than Thunderhill....I was only tryin to say that TH def. isn't easy on 'em. Come to think of it Ry--first time I met you you had a big fat Thunderhill-induced crack in your right front rotor and had to pack it up with a few sessions left in the day.

Spare rotors are definitely on the packing list.

You're confusing me w/ Josh

I've only cracked 1 rotor like that and it was at buttonwillow.
