Default Tire Delima

"dilemma" rather.

Currently I'm on NT01 245/45 and 275/40. Wheels are 949 6ULRs 17x9 and 17x10 (the higher offset ones). The fronts are likely to cord soon, but I've never run NT01s to the cords so I don't really know how much tire I have left. The fronts rubbed the inside of the liner pretty bad an wore the outside of the tire before I upped the camber. Camber is currently 2.8(f) and 2.5(r). No rubbing in the rear. The front fenders aren't rolled, but I'm fine with that if need be. The handling is very neutral in high speed corners and low speed corner exits. Understeer on low speed entry. Wing and splitter, KWv3s.

I'm playing around in NASA time trials. Currently I'm an underprepped TTB car (MY2000 base class TTD+14). I'll probably dyno reclass to TTC and then run TTB so I have room to setup the car as I like. Not looking to be ultra-competitive (yet).

So what tires do I run next? Not interested in stepping up to V710 or R6 at this time. Can't justify the cost. I included the V710 just for comparison.

NT01 Diameter Price
235/40 24.4 $183
245/45 25.7 $198
255/40 25 $189
275/40 25.7 $213

RC-1
235/40 24.3 $173
255/40 24.8 $180

V710
245/40 24.7 $202
245/45 25.4 $262
275/40 25.4 $298

A little more grip in the front to fix the corner entry understeer would be nice. I'm trail-braking to deal with it. Not sure a 255 on the 9" rims would be any more grip than a 235 or 245??? The 245/45 is pretty tall, but it matches the 275/40. Other sizes would lower the nose some and give me more fender clearance. Don't know if that would help or hurt front grip. I'm assuming ABS will be fine with any diameter differences in this range.

Thoughts?

I love my NTO1s but when they are done I'm going to switch to Maxxis RC1. Same points but has an actual contingency with NASA. Something to think about at least.

Why wouldn't 255s improve understeer and why are you running such tall tires? I'd reccomend 255/40 sq. NT01 or RC1. I love NT01s but hear great things about RC1 too. I don't think V710s are very fast and heat cycle quickly but I don't have any personal experience with them so take that with a grain of salt.

...plus you'll stop rubbing the fender liner so bad with proper diameter tires.
