Sometimes I wonder why I even bother........

btw downforce/lift relates to weight transfer
Well, since I experience exactly the same effect whether my top is up or down, I can't say that I'm convinced by your remarkably technical argument. It may be that a hard top adds enough weight to make some sort of difference, but just top up or down simply doesn't.

Perhaps the track slope is greater at PR? Doesn't mean there isn't an aero impact.

Now where did I put that wind tunnel.......

I've always done top up. Bought arm restraints for use if top down, but never got around to trying them as they seem too constrictive. Flailing arms in a convertible roll-over can get chopped off (whether or not you have rollbar; probably worse with rollbar).
Jeez. He's talking AutoX. The chances of a rollover are... what? Nil? 15 years of autoX and the worst accident I've seen is when a guy in a Carrera went off course and took out a picnic table. Totally his fault. He could have saved it.

Anyway, top up or down will have no impact on the car's performance. Speeds are too slow in autoX. There's probably a sense of more mobility for your head top-down, but if you have to look over your shoulder at anything you've screwed up. It's totally a matter of preference. I prefer top down.

Road course, I prefer top up. Spears or no spears.
