are you using an external GPS unit? it seems that some people use it with the Qstarz unit. that may help the accuracy?

thank you for the feedback, and yea you really cant argue with 6 dollars. i figure our phones have enough processing capabilities, its just a matter of finding the right app and addons for the phone to work with.

It really comes down to what you are doing and where you are doing it. Meaning, do you want lap times for just casual HPDE's where you want to start tracking your progress via lap times and split times so you can work on getting faster, or are you competing and need the most accurate and detailed info? Also depending on where the track is located plays a big part in GPS signal strength. I think using a phone app and internal gps is plenty for a casual user. I am lucky that my local tracks get great signal strength and I have verified Harry's Lap timer against an experienced stop watch user over the course of 8 laps and our times where withing hundredths of each other. That is more than good enough for non-competition.

Video whoring time. Made using a Galaxy S2, and the Torque App (although Racechrono etc would do as well) Qstarz 818XT 10Hz GPS and a Panasonic Camcorder. Put together in RaceRender2 with my own custom made dials.
