I can probably throw my hat in the ring. I better bring some books to read while I'm tooling down that nearly 8/10 of a mile straight in the roller skate

Tho I do have to say I'm dissapointed by the lack of elevation changes on the track. Still looks fun, but hills people!

Maybe there are a couple Buttonwillow-type elevations that's not obvious in the photos.

Their website has some 3D renderings see here:

It looks like there may be some undulation.

BW is a prime example of far to flat. Its unfortunately a common trait of many tracks.

Hills and off camber turns are what make a track great. I'll still try it out, but it would have been nice if they picked a location that wasn't so flat for it.

Ry, remember that you're used to the 3 best road courses west of the Mississippi (LS, SP, & TH). That doesn't mean other tracks don't offer a great drive.

I haven't forgot that nor did I say that it wasn't going to be a good track layout. But I'm still disapointed about the lack of elevation.

They can't all be Sears Point.

In large part, yes. Turns at the crests of hills, turns at the bottom of steep hills, very high speed turns, very low speed turns ... they are all great.

Long flat straights -- eh.

No word on who is hosting the first event ... no schedule posted. There will be an update with Alan Wilson and Larry Miller on 7-Sep. My son walked part of the track when they first started grading. It looks like there will be some Buttonwillow like elevation changes ... though nothing like Sears. Alan Wilson claims it is his favorite of any of the tracks he has designed. He is also the new CEO / GM for the track.

My guess is the track will not open until late Oct or so. They're using special type of road surface that requires 8 weeks for curing.

We'll host the BBQ at our house in SLC for any Speed Ventures event.
