Hi there !
Just had a meeting last night with the CEO and some of the staff of the Miller motor Sports park ! It is safe to say that this park will be beyond your wildest dreams regardless of what you ever wanted from a race track.
Just in case you have been living in a cave and don't know about the track, it's a new world class road, kart, autocross and bike course being set up just west of SLC in Tooele. I cant post a link here yet, but if you go to millermotorsportspark website domian you will see everything about the track.
If you are a car enthusiast, this is it, this is the Holy Grail of awesome fun. It was also clear that it is meant for ALL car enthusiasts to help each other out with their events. Every club head at this meeting agreed, we have an awesome opportunity and we would all be thrilled to help with this event, the track, and each other when using the track. There was real feeling of cooperation and genuine enthusiasm about making this track the best for everyone, not just the best for their club.
First, the track designer and staff are handling HUGE project, and they need EVERY CLUB'S HELP! The extent of what this track is going to offer everyone is incredible. Everything from International level race events, regional, national and local organized races and track time, car shows, to the average joe wanting to just come hang out at the track clubhouse and take his car for a spin on the track will be offered.
I mentioned at the meeting that there were a lot of clubs and groups that would likely be interested in all of this, including yours, and they mentioned that they have simple been too overworked to get back to everyone on time. I offered to be a point man and get the word out to as many clubs as possible, and they were thrilled. They were clear to mention that every club will eventually all be individually represented on their website once they do their next update.
Of course it wil be the largest road course in North America, motorcycle track, kart track, and autocross track, no racing enthusiast will be left out. The staff has made it ABSOLUTELY CLEAR that every enthusiast will be accomodated. The facilities will be top notch, there will be a massive clubhouse, garages, and FAMILY friendly facilites so everyone can come spend time at the track. It is very clear that this facility is meant to be a center of car enthusiasm at whatever level a person would want.
This is going to be a long post, so I am going to break it down in to a few sections, it will cover these main topics:
The track will be available for multiple day club rentals, single day rentals, and even multi club race days for clubs that are too small to round up enough $$ and racers to warrant taking the track over themselves. Also, at least once a once a month sort of 'open track' events will be offered to those that just want to come and have some fun on the track without being part of a competitive series like club or track days. The only caveat is, that anyone using the track MUST be part of an established club.
Second, the track's big public launch is on September 7th, and the overworked staff REALLY needs every club's help. This will be a huge presentation in the Delta center, with many things to see:
HOW CAN WE HELP:
Lastly, it's amazing at what all will be offered at this track for everyone. there will be training for people to be track monitors for races that include rescue ( flaming cars WILL be provided for the training ) training, volunteer opportnites for general information ambassadors, people to help clean up, and other asosrted duties around the track. It was made VERY CLEAR that the volunteers would be well rewarded. There will even be opprotunities for people to train for these kidns of positions for PAID somewhat regular employes positions for events at the track. Wow, watch the coolest racing ever, and get paid to do it.
There will be something for EVERYONE to come do on race day! from 4 year olds up getting to do kart racing, playground for the little kids, a AWESOME clubhouse for everyone to hang out it, you will honestly be able to bring the family to the races and eveyrone will have something to do!
It's really amazing how mych Larry Miller is doing to make sure that this really will be a racing center, and community based project that everyone can have a part in, and one that anyone who loves racing can have fun participating in!
SO, RSVP TO ME ASAP if you can come to the event on the 7th, and let me know if you can volunteeer for anything! This is the chance to have access to something locally, that most people nationally could not even dream of having access to! Although I was invited to represent another club for this meeting, I made it clear that there are a LOT of other clubs that want to be invlived with this event, including this one, so time to step up and be counted, and most importantly, to be INVOLVED!!!!! I am more than glad to help other clubs get involved, this whole event and track is for EVERYONE !!!!!
If someone here wants to sort of take the lead and be the point man for this club, maybe club officers or a designee, I will give you the contact information for the MMSP to RSVP to and get more details from, and be glad to help out getting things going for your club to participate!
