Default Trailing edge of brake pads missing chunks

I'm running Hawk HT-10 front and rear and found that the trailing edges of the rear pads have lost chunks of material, some up to 1/4" wide and 1/2" long. There are also a number of cracks in the main body of the pad. Is this normal? Should I use these pads again? They are 1/4" thick so they have enough material but i'm concerned that the chunking will continue and be a hazard. The front pads seem fine, no cracks, no missing chunks. I hadn't experienced any problem with braking before I pulled these off. They were on for 3 track days + about 3k miles of moderate DD.

Thanks for your help!

Without seeing what you are talking about, I think it is safe to say that you should replace the rear pads before your next track excursion. Sounds like the pad compound is delaminating from the backing plate.

Sounds like they went over the designed temperature range.
I had some hawks that did this as well and moved up to a better pad.
