Nimbus... the change was proposed but it never actually happened. Basically, A-stock was changing names to B-stock because they were adding a class at the top. It was going to be all the same cars. But the re-organization will not happen now until 2002, if then... so it's A-stock for 2001.

I see.. I wasn't aware the proposal did not get passed. Has SCCA updated this on their website yet? The last info I got was here: http://www.best.com/~mouton/sccasolo/stockc01.html

Nimbus... the official word can be found in this link: http://www.scca.org/news/tech/seb/11-02-00.html
The exact wording is under Solo II Stock Category, and reads like this:
"The SEB has decided to extend the duration of the period for member comment regarding the proposed restructure of the Stock classes, and has established a target implementation date of 1/1/2002. Updates and corrections to the proposal will be published in a future issue of SportsCar. "
So we'll have to keep an eye out for the revised version to make sure we don't get bumped... but for 2001 we are safe.

Type-R will stay in G-Stock... and while it's a great car for the class, it's beatable. I beat a well driven one at the Ayer, MA National Tour last season. I would have beaten a few more at Nationals if I had driven well. What did I drive?

There are a few cars capable of beating the Type-R, including the DSM AWD twins, the Prelude (older VTEC and newer body style) and even the V-6 Camaro. This coming year, the E-30 BMW M3 will be going into G-Stock, so it should be a pretty evenly matched class between a wide array of cars!

Jason, You said the JDM BBS's are $1640 a set? Just FYI, someone scratched my left rear wheel and I go to my dealer and he says $480 a wheel, meaning $1920 a set. Much more than the JDM's... Then again he could be ripping me off, but atleast I'm not paying for it. Anyways, just thought I'd share that.

Giampiero at MG Racing was going to get them for $1640 a set through a wholesale importing source of some kind. And Honda-Accessories.com is selling the rear wheels for $309, so yes, the dealer was ripping you off. But dealers love to do that!

Love the shot of the Corrado. Brings back memories. I had a '92 VR6 prior to getting my Stook. Never did autoX it but from the looks of it you were quite good. It didn't hold a candle to the Stook in "fun to drive" quotient IMO.

You're right, Mack... I get back in the Corrado now (which is my daily driver) and it just feels all spongy and loose. I remember the Corrado feeling like such a fast and tight car when it was new. It's still a great looking coupe. I was following my roomate who was driving mine, and I couldn't help but notice how good looking it is. But front wheel drive, no limited slip, terrible torque steer. Ah well, good car nonetheless. I had fun with mine, and did well autocrossing... but it was an uphill battle! I sure am looking forward to running the Stook this year.
