piggy back ecu's are already illegal so that doesn't change and just muddies the arguement.

And you can't change anything in our ecu unless you have one of the couple honda programmable ones. And again those should be easy to spot w/ the cover off.

You have to understand that this is not the Honda Club of America, that tech people are volunteers, and regions don't have a lot of money for specialized equipment (and its maintenance and training.)
But do they really tear down engines and check cylinder diameters? How often?

Maybe the protested car gets impounded after the race and a dealer inspects the ECU. I don't know.

This is crazy, anyway. What's this for, a $5 trophy? I guess some people might cheat to win it, but I feel sorry for them.

I guess it just sounds like this class is a really bad fit for the S2000. All along those of us who actually own the cars have been seriously questioning the assumption that there is any practical way, under the rules, to make 270HP, but we are weight-penalized assuming that we will. If that's the rule the SCCA is going to stick with, I doubt they are going to be seeing many S2000s entering this class.

I wouldn't say it's a bad fit, but they've made sure the s2k is going to be stupid slow because 250hp and 3005 lbs puts us somewhere in ITS

and steve, yes thats exactly what I'm suggesting, if you can't fix the ecu rules, I mean come on programmable ecu's are cheap. Just open them up for ITR, the current ecu rules are borderline idiotic. So if they're gonna keep those rules then there should be another line for the s2k that runs a stock ecu and then we can run in the 2800-2900 lb range which makes FAR more sense. Requiring over 300lbs of ballast isn't safe either.

an ITQ class might be in order too, but that'll be another 5 years.

Someday I hope we get CP/DP too.

I have still not gotten over the fact that this "IT" class is supposed to keep cost low.

even if they open the ecu rule I still have to run a dash, heater core, and headlights. WTF

Or if they don't and I have to spend 2k on a motec or however much they are to get the car to move and that will suck. O and I still have to run a dash, heater core, and headlights because its a cheap class.

Hell I don't know what I am trying to say.
none of that made sense to me
I hope the people reading this understand.

As for the weight thing it sucks.
I have huge bars of lead sitting on the floor of the passenger side just waiting to shear off and hit me in the head if I roll over and smack hard.

soooo with all that said
I hope they open the ecu rule so I can get 20 more hp or so. it will help lug around that extra 300 lbs in my car.
Or change the rule in the less expensive class for me to only run a stock ECU and take the weight back out.
