Default Widebody track wheel help.

Need some advice please

Hey guys, so my car is setup for a wide body wheel setup. I'm currently running 18x10.5 +30 rear (275) and a 18x9.5 +30 front(255) with my street wheels/tires.

What wheel/tire size would you guys recommend going for my track wheels?

My car is supercharged, and will be seeing less and less street.

Should I go with a square setup or keep the staggered? I can add sway bars, etc, I want to run R compounds at the track wheels.

I was thinking of getting those enkei rpf1 wheels in a 18x10 +38 rear, but not sure if I should go square in the front or keep it staggered with the 9.5. If I go square should I go with the 18x10's all around?

Thanks in advance.

Lots of searchable information available. The answer will be: depends.

Depending on how much extra fender room you have and whether you can get correct offsets, you can probably stuff a 18x10.5" to 11" up front (you'd be looking at roughly +40 offset) and a 12" (+50 offset) in the back. With those, you might be able to run 315/30 and 335/30 Hoosiers. Don't quote me, though. Measure your actual room under those fenders. And if you aren't getting custom wheels, you may need to compromise width a bit to get an offset that works.

As for square or not, I'd say you're probably better off thinking "maximum width everywhere." There isn't any advantage to artificially limiting front or rear tire width just to match the max you can run on the other axle or to maintain a stagger. The reason so many people run 9" square is due to 17" tire/wheel availability, stock front fender/control arm clearance and the ability to rotate tires. They'd be faster setting up the car to run on wider rear wheels and tires, but they generally don't exist in 17" sizes. Since you're going to 18's, R-comps and wide-body, you open up a much greater range of tire/wheel sizes and can stuff some real steam-rollers under there!

Also keep in mind that you're going to need to manage oil flow with that much grip, and spring rates/valving and associated tweaks may need to be made to stay off the bump stops. I wish I had the money to open up that can of worms.

^ what he said. Also - with that much rubber and being super charged, I'm hoping you have a BBK of some sort. Stock calipers and single piece rotors with 275 r-comps (even if just NT-01s) and FI isn't going to cut it.

Make sure the wheels you purchase/intend to use have clearance for a BBK if you don't already have one. You'll find that after your oil and fuel starvation problems, you'll have problems not cooking your brakes and getting them to last more than 1-2 days of tracking.

thanks so much for the info guys, genuinely appreciate it, theres just so many different options out there I've been searching for a long time before I made this thread.

now I know maximum width will add oil/fuel problems, I already have fuel problem under 1/2 tank at my local track, so I'm looking for a happy medium for the time being. hence why I suggested those rpf1 wheels with some r compounds on them.

Up front I have the front oem fenders completely flared out straight, the rears are cut all the way to the top of the wheel wells so its pretty much completely open to fit almost any width

other than those rpf1's are there any comparable wheels you guys would recommend? Budget is sub 350 per wheel. If I go 10.5 rear would you recommend 9.5 or 10 front?

Is there a measurable width difference front to rear that is recommend to stay within for a staggered setup? ie: difference between total width front and rear from center of car to outside of the wheel is 1-2"?

Pick the tire your going to use than pick the wheel. If you get 255/275 (not sure 275s are needed), than youd ideally want 10" and 11" wide wheels. But your budget doesnt seem to allow for that.
