Sorry about the confusion guys, I'm pretty sure that it was the first generation of Sti's that came stateside. So whatever year the first gens came, that's the year that I raced. Plus it didn't have that gay-ass wing on the rear windshield if that helps.
unless you mean the 02-03 wrx. lol
This is a pretty good read from me as I'm looking to get an S2000 in the spring time so that I can get back into racing. I keep fearing the loss of power I'll get from the car the S2000 will replace, but I know it will drive and handle worlds better and likely be far more reliable. The car it is replacing is a 450-500whp 1995 Ford Taurus SHO running on E85. It's got the power to bruise some ego's... On the freeway. After 10 years of owning the car and building it from virtually stock, it's time to move on.
To add to this, I also have a 2005 STi, but it's about as fast or faster than my SHO and has traction down low (SHO will rip them loose in 2nd above 50 mph at times). I thought about using it as a track car, however, after owning several boosted cars for quite some time, I like the idea of staying NA with less parts to have fail.
I said all that to say that I think I'll be happy with the power from the S2000 in NA form after reading some of these stories.

Yes, that is my car shortly after the motor build. I was running out of injector past 7,000 RPM and more recently upgraded to ID1000's and converted to E85 (those pulls were with 91 octane and water/meth). Now the car pulls to 8,000 RPM again. I will miss the car, but it's one of those things that when it's time to move on, it's time to move on.
