For what it's worth, my own impression is that high-torque cars seem to have an advantage going uphill, particularly long hills -- my [formerly owned] Jaguar XJ12 sedan seemed to noticeably easier pass such prey as 740s and S500s on a long uphill than on level ground.

Does the '2' refer to 'two door', rather than four?
Yes, the 2 does stand for 2 door.
as for the rest of this arguement, lets not get too involved here, there were a few very scientific explainations which made sense, but lets not forget how un-scientific this is. i said "4 car lengths", is that a scientific measurement?? no, who knows, maybe it was 3, and maybe it was 5, its hard to tell when you are looking over your shoulder. Anyway, if you want to doubt or flame thats fine, i meant no disrespect to the S2k, in fact it is one of my favorite new cars.

The hills aren't that steep, nor are they that long. I'd be surprised if they weren't actually going back down hill before the end of the run actually :-).
That is incorrect, i am refering to the hill that is just north of Zuma beach, the light im talking about is the one that is right next to the starbucks. Maybe you dont remember or whatever, but after the hill PCH runs pretty flat for about 3 miles before you head back downhill by El Matador State Beach.

As for all the scientific explanations, im going to stay out of that, im just telling what happened so i dont really need a reason, both cars are very capable so maybe i was just the better driver.

In that case, you weren't in the FnF location, which was much further north by Neptune's Net.

The hill you are talking about is relatively mild and not that long, and if memory serves, right after the light you actually go down a slight grade before hitting the uphill, no? I lived on Point Dume for 3 years so that stretch of beach is _very_ familiar too me. I still use the flat stretch of PCH along Zuma to do some instrumented testing since its right at sea level.

Once again, incorrect. In FnF the Supra raced the F355 from the stoplight that is right at the end of Zuma beach, they raced up the hill and it was pretty much over by the time they reached the top. Just to give you some proof, the stoplight they raced from is the last light until you get to Camarillo. Your thinking about where they ate lunch in the movie, which was at Neptunes net. Anyway, seems like you would know the area better if you lived here for 3 years.

I really hate to draw myself into this value added discission, but, in the movie, don't they pull into the restaurant to have lunch RIGHT after the race? It's quite possible that the location/relation of the race spot and the restaurant don't actually fall in that order in real life, but just thought I'd ask.

WES- The restaurant location is about 10 minutes north of where they actually raced.

I ask them why my "no-torque" car has the same 0-60 and 1/4 mile times as a Mustang Cobra? They usually shut right up.
