Yeah, the weight kills them. They've got fatter and fatter over the generations. The 1997 328i weighed 3120lbs. The 2002 330i weighed 3285lbs. The 2008 328i weighs 3340lbs! These are just the base models, without any options. Keep in mind too that the E36 328i and E46 330i are more comparable to the 335i than the 328i (in that they were both one slot below the M3).
