this is getting good In all honesty i love both cars . If something bad were to happen to my ap1 then i would not hesitate to buy an ap2 . The fact of the matter is i have owned my ap1 for about 7 years now and it only has 53k on the clock and has been paid off for 5 years now . I am one of the few people who get to drive both versions often as i work at a honda dealer . The straight line speed thing humors me because both versions are slow as crap and some folks insist that the ap2 is such a torque monster really ????? I guess all those ap2 cars i drove must be defective or something . In a straight line it really is a drivers race as slow as it is .

How can I put this..

I love both. However, if you put the same appropriate supporting mods (both with weight reduction, reflash/EMS tuned, header, CAI, TP, exhaust)..The car with more power will still be quicker (with these cars at least). What hurts the ap2 is the cheesy 8k redline that robs!

Ap2's gain a butt load in the midrange when tuned (25-30). Rev that puppy to 8.5k and the ap2 is significantly quicker (straight line). yeah..the ap2 tranny factor in an ap1 . The 2.2 will still make more lbs/hp in the end lol. With that said, im guessing the ap2 reacts better to weight reduc/power combo than the ap1. Like i said, I have owned both, but when tuned, the ap2 is noticeably quicker (kinda like a bike). . It reminds me of my old built GSR with a b16tranny.

Hell~ I'd like to see you all run at Fontana Cal Speedway where the track is slightly uphill and high @ss elevation. Many of you will be disappointed.

I made 245rwhp/175 lbs tq on church's dyno with *stock exhaust/Berks header/V2/TP/EMS. That would be equivalent to 225-230+ on a dynojet. E46 M3's, stock GTO's, Z4M's were all good races for me when i was tuned.

All the tuned Si's, RSX's, AP1's try to punk stock/bolt on/untuned ap2's, but they never race tuned ap2's on youtube . A tuned ap2 can easily hang if not slightly pull on an HR 350Z. (13.3-13.5 territory)

This argument means nothing if you are FI'd

* Sorry for the rambling and errors. Im on my phone.

Pretty good. There's practically no drivetrain loss with FWD. I always thought that they should have made a FWD variation of the S. That would be pretty sick =).

I had stock exhaust. It was majorly bottlenecked. I'm sure it would have seen at least 252 with exhaust.

I now have a t1r em 70mm, but am also going the vortech route .

so someone tell me how an ap1 is better then an ap2 when i rev out to 8500 rpms.. cause i know no one here wants to throw the 9k arguement at me
Unless you’re FI, you’re only making peak power at about 8200rpm's. So the extra last 300rpms your so thrilled about is just screaming limp dick furry

Indeed, but it helps drop us higher in the next gear..

In a perfect world I would love to keep my ap2 and get an ap1 purely for the track (gut it, throw a cage, slicks, etc)

Lower vtec....its much more effective in exuding what your trying to accomplish.

If your not a perfect shifter, having some over rev leeway is a nice feature, but it is just a band aid, not necessarily a performance enhancement obviously since you make less power at that rpm range.
