[QUOTE=S2Kguy,Jul 16 2007, 09:46 PM]The average STi traps at 101-103, and the average S2K traps at...wait for it....here it comes....95 mph.

[QUOTE=LagunaBlueS2k,Jul 17 2007, 01:00 AM] Me thinks the average MPH for the S2000 in the 1/4 mile is around 100 mph.

[QUOTE=S2Kguy,Jul 16 2007, 06:12 PM] stitos2k: I'll agree that the EVO's steering is superior to the STi's, as well as it's seats, and modability, but that's where it ends.

I would love to see S2kguy's "STi is better than evo comparo" because none of his reasons would include a performance-oriented one.

BETTER STOCK HEAD UNIT YO!

the maita vs. s2k "fun to drive factor" is also subjective. the miata is very nimble, but so underpowered, and the s2k has the power, but its not as nimble. to me, having alot of seat time in both, the s2k is the more fun to drive car. but the miata is the damn bench mark for roadsters.
You are right "fun to drive factor" is subjective. But man, it seems you are basing your fun factor on straight line acceleration because that is the only time the s2k is more fun than the miata. The miata is so tossible. Have you ever autocrossed a miata? I know the s2k is a great car but it has snap oversteer issues and down low, the miata feels like it has more punch. On curves, turning, drifting, etc. the miata is more fun because it is more predictible, lighter and easier to get going sideways. I dunno, having a 33k car which is less predictible going sideways is more nerve wreaking than fun for me. I had over 100k on my miata and 100k on my s2000 so I feel like I am authority on the fun factor of both cars.

I don't know man, there are a lot of guys over on the evo forums who were previously STI owners.

I'll give you that since the IX ended production in december 2006, some guys in older Evo's who didn't want to wait for the X or didn't care for it probably jumped ship. We'll have to wait and see what the X brings I suppose.

That's ok, my next car will be neither mitsubishi or Subaru. Don't get me wrong, the sti was ok but it wasn't all that great. Rattled like crazy (I spent 3 months fixing rattles, and as soon as fixed one something else would start), interior looked better but like I said, rattled. The motor is a PITA to work on. Changing the plugs in that thing was an adventure, and just about anything you did besides an oil change required you to remove the top mount IC. The tranny was its best feature, being build like a brick it could take a lot of punishment... It shifted like a brick too.

Frankly, I've taken apart the ENTIRE interior of both cars (seats, dash, carpet, panels). The STI looks better, but the evo is built better (at least on the ix).

Its YOU who don't want to get ME started. Having owned both I'm uniquely qualified to discuss both cars in detail.

With the 2007, well I don't know much about it frankly. Don't really care much either since I never plan to own one.
the evo X brings paddle shifters or a 5spd...in my opinion they are saving the best for later, hence the MR with a 6spd because mits is going belly up that they need to squeeze all of the juice from their cars slowly just to stay alive.

I bought the sti for 4 reasons, the engine, tranny, awd, and rear-wheel bias drivetrain. When you buy an econo box like this you better sacrifice the trades-off. Rattling, clunking, cheap interiors are of no concern for me. It really depends on what your perferences are. I know lots of people who rather drive in comfort in a more extinguished brand of car, The sti isnt for them.

Owning both cars....what will be your next car?

Well, based on the fact that I plan to keep the Evo... Probably the new Camaro, convertible if it isn't priced to the moon. That's one hot domestic, and I haven't even considered buying domestic since 1993. I don't want it for modding or racing, just cruising. By the time it comes out and I have spare cash floating around my Evo should be right around 80k miles. The extra car will let me take some of the burden off the evo, sad as it sounds it'll become the winter car

Of course if Honda wakes the hell up and makes a 300hp turbo s2000 I'd probably buy that instead. I'm still a bit weary of GM quality.

As sad as it sounds, I'm getting tired of the modding cars game. When I think of all the money I've spent on cars in just the last 5 years... shiver... At least if I do decide to mod the camaro, it'll probably be super cheap like most domestic mods.

Once my Evo gives out and I have to get another 4 door sedan, I'll probably get a WRX or Legacy GT and only do minor mods.

what a fan boi!!!! i completely agree with you though, but you forgot about the skyline gtr, and thats one really awesome awd car. Even though all of the statements you typed are true..What does this have to do with a freeway roll race??? we already know the strenghts and weakness of these 2 cars...
At least someone on this thread understands the accomplishments Honda made on the S2000. It's defintely a part of history for NA FR sports cars.

The STi has a head unit?

Why is it that EVO owners always have a chip on their shoulder? Could it be because after the z0myg0dthiscarcanbesofast mod-ether cleared, they figured out that they actually purchased an inferior car?

Nah, that'd be giving them too much credit.
