Default Ap2 vs Ap1

I met a local ap1 owner while I was out last weekend who I honestly thought would've crushed me, but he couldn't keep up under 80. We did three runs. He had a passenger and was top up. I had a full tank of gas and top down and no passenger.

My power mods (ap2): modified oem exhaust (removed middle resonator) and K&N filter
What he said his mods were (ap1): intake, exhaust, 4.77 gears, test pipe

1st: rolling start, not sure what speed but under 10. I missed 3rd but kept up no problem in 1st and 2nd, but obviously lost
2nd: I asked to go again. Lined up at a light and neither of us launched. He said he missed 2nd so it was an easy win
3rd: Another rolling start at around 10-15. Neither of us missed a gear and I let up at 80 when I saw he couldn't keep up, but to be fair it looked like at around 80 he was starting to make up ground, but another win

Any insight why someone with 4.77 gears and bolt ons can't keep up with a stock s2k? I understand the other boltons wont create huge power, but with 4.77 gears I honestly expected to lose repeatedly

EDIT: I guess I should expect people to just say I beat the driver not the car, but maybe someone can elighten me

Do you know if the actually knows how to drive and shift correctly? If she is shifting way before redline and then that might be by he isn't keeping up. Either that or your motor is gifted...

I have no idea of his shifting skills. I just met him that night. It sounded like he was letting it rev high though. He must be as bad at shifting as me if we both missed a gear I posted in our local sightings thread so hoping he sees one of these and steps up. I'm more than willing to do a rematch to help my brain process what is going on. Maybe one of the other local guys knows him and can say something too. Maybe I'm completely misunderstanding how the gearing thing works too. He would have to shift more, but should accelerate much faster over the stock 4.10 correct? So maybe if he wasn't shifting well and he had to shift more often...that's what happened.

Id be willing to run either one of you to do a comparison lol. Yeah I would imagine he didn't know how to drive correctly. There are a few ways to beat someone, power shifting, making sure you shift right before the cutoff, stuff like that.

I used to know someone who I raced him in my car, then we swapped cars and no matter what he drove I always walked him. He did not know how to drive and I think now just sticks to automatic cars.

Could be driving, could be the passenger as well. Weight can be a killer when two cars are closely matched. The only real difference between the cars was the weight and the AP1 having a TP (and drivers of course).

so 4.77 wont give enough of advantage? I thought the difference would be significant. Interesting. Liquid if you have gears I'll meet you sometime. I'm not saying that because I think I will win, but my mind is curious how much gears help.

I have an AP1 with 4.57s. I'd like to run another S, but I never get the opportunity. Previous owner installed the gears.

im willing to bet he lied about the gears... it doesnt make sense at all he should of pulled you or hes a shitty driver. i dont care who you are, if you miss a gear your going to have a hard time keeping up with me after that. Unless our cars are on different levels that is..
