AP2 vs bugeye STI?
Wattsup s2ki, i've always been a fan of reading threads here in the street encounters section. i'll go ahead and say that i do not endorse street racing its bad... but if you have to stand your ground what is a chap to do. alright so i'll cut the foreplay and get straight to it, i live in south Fl and i found myself in the Miramar parkway and i75 interchange/overpass. i came up to a red light and there was an older gen subie sitting there a bugeye i would say 02 maybe? either way, i look at the guy next to me.. he looks back and i look straight forward. the light turns green i go into first and dont let it rev that high about 2.5k, already in second and i could hear the subie was still in first and letting the revs go higher and higher. i suddenly realize what was happening, so i go WOT and the quite and tamed berk 3" headerback suddenly turns from Dr.Jekyll to Mr.Hyde screaming past 6k rpms and redlining, go into 3rd powershift ofcourse i was about a fender behind him. i could hear his turbo spooling, but even though i was behind him i didnt stop at the top of third i slowly start to creep by him by the time we are at the middle of the overpass we are dead even i was maybe a quarter of a car ahead.
round 1 goes to the humble n/a s2000, i arrive at the stop light first a couple of seconds later the bugeye subie arrives, i look over to the guy and give him a thumbs up for a good run and i say to him "round 2?" he replies you want to do an all wheel drive pull? i look at him and smirk i clearly knew what i was getting myself into. i rev upto about 5k rpm, i dont want to grenade my diff at 11:30 at night in unfamiliar territory. the light turns green i dump the cluth the subie follows suit and launches the hell out of that light, i was about a car length behind him but once i got traction i started to gain some ground, he slows down and makes the first left. i keep going straight to my destination. its settled 1 for 1 no one wins tonight. so what do you guys think? this is my first encounter with a subie in the s2, what do you guys think i got lucky? he let off and let me have the win? he was a base wrx with a couple of mods i was at a loss when this happened i know the s2k is no slouch but sti's are nothing to be fooled with. hope it was a good read for you guys

lol. The "bugeye" body style didn't have an STi in the U.S. It was only a WRX and in stock form made less than 200hp at the wheels. My heavily modified bugeye made 250/250 at the wheels. I would sure hope an N/A AP2 would take one lol.
