like me.

i thought i knew how to drive my car well, then i gave it to my tuner for a joy ride. i was reaching for non-existent "oh sh*t" bars as he wound through the gears. it's an exponential effect, the closer and faster you shift at redline.

very big misconception that the auto 350z are slow... i think i posted a video a few months ago of me running a 13.8 in an auto 350z. 13.7 was the best for the day though.

i recall seeing that vid...did the Z have any mods? I know that they respond well to mods. The VQ motor is a good motor but its a waste when matted to an auto tranny

Kind of funny though because we have had plenty of auto vs manual "wars" on my350z, lol. But quite surprisingly, it seems as if autos have the potential to run just as quickly down the 1/4 as manuals. Believe fastest bone stock auto has run 13.6-13.7. Also not uncommon to hear of autos run high 13's in the quarter either, bone stock. But from a roll, manual Z's have a slight advantage due to more aggressive gearing.

To the OP, good kill!

i wonder why they are saying the VQ responds well to mods...? i honestly think it has one of the worst dollar to hp ratio of all cars.

i had an fx35 which has the VQ motor. WIth just a JWT pop charger, Crawford Plenum and exhaust I was seeing at least 20hp improvements on the dyno plot.

did u take in your FX and get a baseline dyno? or are u assuming it was 20 hp? cause JWT popcharger will get u maybe 1-2 hp MAX and a crawford plenum will fatten out the powerband but you will only see about 10-12 hp peak gain if your lucky. maybe cause of the fact that you have a detuned engine will net you more power.
