Boxster Type S
IDO914S,
Those questions were really just for F1S2000 who was claiming to be a Porsche expert and denegrating both driver and cars apparently, although he's gone strangely quiet. Thanks for answering though, hey since you are in Cincy what do you think of Beechmont Porsche?

I definitely do not think the Boxster is a "poorman's Porsche." I do think there are many people out there leasing them when the car is a little beyond their means, but that's a different story.
In Los Angeles, the Boxster is largely a symbol of conspicuous consumption, and brand worship. There are hoardes of Boxsters roaming the streets here, and very few of them are driven the way they were designed to be driven. When I take the S to canyons around the perimeter of Los Angeles, I NEVER see a Boxster out there. Always sportbikes, miatas, 911s, occasionally a Z3, but I can't remember when I've ever seen a Boxster. It annoys me enormously to think that these cars are going to waste being driven to the spa, or the yoga class, or Trader Joe's, and NOT on a track or in the canyons. These people should have bought a convertible 3 series instead.

S2Ken or "Boxster Boy" The Car and Driver rag is "no good' when its not in your favor, so you blast it and then return with the JD Powers survey. You even take the time to scan in the results (I know things are slow in Kansas). But it seems you like to leave out the details. Yes, that is the brand ranking for sports cars. But it is the Brand rating.
Now here's the facts, read and weep again:
"According to J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study, the Porsche 911-America's Best Sports Car, is the most dependable sports car sold in the United States."
(starting price north of $70K)
"Second most dependable sports car sold in the United States, based on responses of orginal owners of 2000 model year vehicles (S2000's first year) was the Honda S2000."
DID YOU NOT READ THE WHOLE REPORT?
"Porsche rounded out the sports car podium with the Boster ranking THIRD, in terms of problems per 100 vehicles sold"
YOU JUST ATE YOUR WORDS WITH YOUR REFERENCE, AGAIN, AS ALWAYS (and you paid $20K more).
Now, when you talk about brands, actually Toyota has the most vehicle segment winners in the report, but remember, individuals buy a car, not the brand (unless your buying company stock, or a dealership).
SO PLEASE, WHEN YOU CHOOSE A REFERENCE THAT YOU AGREE WITH, SCAN IT, POST IT, PUT ALL THE FACTS DOWN, THE BOXSTER LOST TO HONDA'S S2000 FIRST YEAR ON THE BLOCK. OUCH
