I don't want to get into this discussion but saying that "Boxster is not a REAL Porsche" or that "Boxster is a poorment's Porsche" is a bit ridiculous. If the above is true then the following must be true as well:
- S2000 is a poorman's NSX (and hence not a real Honda).
- M3 is a poorman's M5 (and hence not a real BMW).
- Z4 is a poorman's Z8 (and hence not a real BMW).
- Any 3 series BMW is a poorman's M3 (and hence not a real BMW)
- SLK Mercedes is a poorman's 500SL (and hence not a real Mercedes)
- Ferrari F360 is a poorman's Enzo (and hence not a real Ferrari)
- etc....

Where do you stop? Is any car that is not on top of the 'foodchain' not the "Real deal" and just a "poorman's vehicle"?

Actually there is a poor-man's Porsche. If memory serves, that model is the 924 which is gawdfully ugly and slow. I think back in the day, Porsche wanted to market a model that was deemed "affordable" and failed miserably.

IMHO, the Boxter is by no means a poor-man's Porsche.

You might want to rethink that statement.

Hey Z06! Long time no see, er write, well whatever...

No I'm not serious, I was pulling F1S2000's chain because he said Boxster's were a poor man's Porsche, only using his analogy against him.

Are you coming to HPT in September? I didn't see you at the last event in June, although there was 1 S2000 there.

There will be a new WRX Sti at the track next weekend (25-26th) that a guy in Topeka owns, I think that is a BMW sponsored event.

I saw that the 04's were to be equipped with 270-300hp. If that is so, that will
make them a bit tougher to spank. So there does seem to be a corporate attempt
to bring the car into the realm of real Porsche's.

I appreciate the invite but I have other plans this weekend. Who is hosting this weekend's event?
