Corvette vs. S2000
Pappy (long),
Last night I took the whole damn airbox out of my S. I run an intake from the bottom of the fender directly into the cone filter and took it for a spin. My butt-dyno sensed a slight better pull at low rpms but I could not tell anything at high rpms or the midrange for that matter, only an incredible sound coming from the engine compartment
(my butt-dyno has a tendency to be unreliable).
Do you think that just by cutting that excess plastic in the airbox you can add more air than running open element? I did shield against the heat from the radiator plus I am running nice cool air directly into the cone element (not mentioning all the heat-wrapping I have done on the intake hose).
If so or anybody has actually tried these I would like to know before I go cutting into the airbox. Have you changed the filter?
As far as exhaust goes I am still debating between the MG/Mugen/Tanabe (believe it or not I like this one the best) or Comptech......once I get the intake figured out and the exhaust ordered (must be this month) then I will call both my neighbors: one with a 98 C5 and the other one with a 01 Z06 (been trying to race the S since I got it), then I hope I can back you up......until then, I would just continue to spank them both on my TTZ.

Believe it completly...The other weekend i was in the stook and two good lookin women pull up beside me, in a vette, new body style, convertible. Anyways, we didnt start off the line, but rather at around 30mph, i pulled and the vette couldnt keep up, had about 1 car length at around 90

Personally, I have been pondering over what is better, The S2K or the Vette. I both like the looks and styling, and obviously the engine and handling characteristics. But the interior of the Vette is cheap as hell. They use cheap plastic and there are so many gaps in between panels. You would think they would separate Vette parts from ordinary GM Parts. I know the S2000 is a plain interior, but at least it is good quality plastic and parts.... Does anyone agree?
