[QUOTE=4wheelVFR,Aug 15 2006, 11:06 PM] Each is a ballance of a different kind, with the MSRP to back it up.

all i know that everyone in hear would take a M3 anyday over a S..its more than the power of the cars..its over all luxury and quality..i love my S but i would rather have a M and its not because of the power and i have rode in a sti and evo sure they are faster but thats about it
I wouldn't. And I'm sure there are lots of people who wouldn't either.

...one thing; you guys need to stop calling your S a 'no frills' sports car. Last time I checked S2000s come with AC and all sorts of other amenities.

How about a "low-frills" sports car.
Ok, ok, sorry! LOW frills sports car.....but its a damn fine low frills sports car.

Where are you guys seeing a lot of E46 dynos? Thought they need to disable something on the ECU or they don't rev past 6500 rpm and that either requires the expensive tool or pulling fuses or some tricks holding buttons down and shutting off the car at 6K rpm or what not. Not too many shops have the tool. And I've driven my friend's M3. It is fast.

U r correct. You need a GT1 tool to dyno properly. On the earlier model years (01-03), u can do it w/out a GT1, but it involves playing with the DSC button.

Car won't rev past 6K on the dyno otherwise.

There are two ways to dyno the earlier E46 M's...you could pull a few fuses or go through a key sequence which involves the DSC button. Both of which are a pain in the ass but even at 6000 RPM's the M3 is putting down somewhere in the 240-250 RWHP range.

But whenever I see a Evo or STi I'm like, ok its fast but they look like young kid's cars.

Would I want an Evo or STi, yeah sure, but compared to the M3 they look childish, and not as classy.

Just as how an M3 looks stupid(conservative) compared to an NSX or Elise.

I'll still say that the M3 is the most well rounded of the sport coupe things, for everyday driving.
I agree with you for the most part. I parked next to a 04 M3 yesturday at the tint shop and my NSX looked light-years ahead in terms of looks but the interior of the M3 looked light-years ahead of my NSX . Oh well, what can you do? The M3 owner told me, someday I will own a NSX but I just cant afford it. I told him yeah you can, sell your M3 and go NSX shopping..
