You gotta be joking, right? Nope. Haha.

So I'm coming home from basketball, tired as can be, just chillin' getting my efficient 50 MPG (doesn't this sound very familiar?) when I roll up upon a white Expedition. The Expedition had those magnets on the side that you often see on company cars, it was some sort of landscaping company...had a tree on the magnet. I looked into the cabin, noticed two girls in their early twenties...mmmm, nice. Guess they were out in daddy's car. I was checking them out while matching their speed, then sped up a bit...so that I didn't look like the stalker that I am. Light turns red. Casually looking over...staring. Light turns green, I roll out, give it some gas...they seem to as well. Suddenly the ill-placed light ahead (within 200 feet of the previous) turns yellow; we both stop.

As the crossing lights turn yellow, I turn the A/C off, put the car into 'S' mode...but just slowly roll out on green. The torquey SUV takes 2-3 car-lengths with probably as little throttle as I had, so I go ahead and catch up and maintain my acceleration. As I pass them, get a car or so...they match speed. I FLOOR IT!! The CVT revs slowly up to 5,5000...once it's there...it stays; and you're MOVING!! I can see the Expedition in my side-view mirror...she had punched it too. I switch lanes to navigate around a car...still got the pedal stuck on the floor...engine just giving it all it's got; I hear nothing but 5,500 RPMs singing to me. I move back into the center lane. All I see in my side-view is one headlight of the blazing Expedition. I'm holding my lead, she's not gaining an inch! We go a few hundred more feet, then I shut 'er down...at 87 MPH. WOO! I slowed down...slow moving car in front of me. Girls pass. We go through a few more lights, and as I ease past the girls (slow car in their lane this time) I give them a quick honk of the horn; sorta like a an automobile wink. Psshht, don't mess with the Insight!!

 

Oh lord....I think I just shit my pants....when the hell are you going to put a camera in that damned thing?

Hey I bet my Insight can take yours........I got a 5-speed!!!

 

Yeah but the CVT puts out 71 HP at 5,700 RPM, while the manual puts out 73 HP at 5,700 RPM...BUT...the CVT stays at 5,700 RPM (max power) throughout the whole acceleration process, while a manual has to shift through gears. So, the CVT is making more power the whole time. In theory, the CVT should be quicker, but there's only one way to find out.

Ok you get 1 car length for every MPG you get MORE than me on the freeway at 70 mph.


IE. - If you get 60 mpg at 70mph and I get 20mpg you'd get 40 lengths. Then I have to catch you from a standing start in the 1320.

That would be interesting.
