Two words, wrong gear. or you raced a douche.

It takes at least a base supercharger kit on an S just to keep up with an E46 M3. Just cuz the guy has the power doesn't mean he was using it... He was probably cruising away from you partial throttle, I do it all the time and people think I'm racing

A stock S runs high 13s 1/4 mile at best, a stock E46 M3 auto runs about mid 13s (manual is closer to low 13s). And that car has WAY more low end torque and power than an S. There is no way you'd keep up with an E46 M3 off the line unless you launched your car.
people think we're racing in everyday driving b/c our motors sound/are high strung.

Read his mod list, especially the 4.77 gear part.

the 4.77 gears make a huge difference, and along with his other mods especially because of a tune with the VAFC would make him quite a bit quicker than a stock S.

I know what you mean.... some antsy little driver next to us who is looking for a race sees that we don't shift gears at 3k rpm and we hold a gear longer will think that since we are still in the same gear will take that as the beginning of a race

As everyone else noted, read my mod list I can put a buslength on a stock S in no time. 4.77 gears + big weight reduction = bye bye
