It looks to be pretty comparable to the S2k power-wise... maybe sliiiightly faster.

It has 330hp at 3781 pounds (the hard top I raced might have been heavier) compared to the S2000's 240hp at 2800lbs.

Dude, I really hate to burst your bubble, 'cause it sounds like u had a fun encounter. But if u really think your S with those mods can hang with an E46 M3, you're going to be in for a rude (and I mean REALLY rude) awakening some day.

Stock for stock, E46 M will own an S EVERY time. Sorry.

Get yourself an SC...and then come back with a kill story.

BTW, M3 coupe weighs in at @ 3400 lbs.

i ran my friends m3 on a freeway onramp till about 70. he didn't pull away but i had to stop because we were merging. im sure after 80mph or higher the m3 will run away. our gearing and easy-to-shift fast gearbox is what probably kept me even close to the m3. those cars are beasts.

yes, a 70-roll would demonstrate what ~100 hp difference looks like lol.

Some impromptu throw-down on a freeway between total strangers isn't a test of anything but who's hungry - i.e. guy with slower car is trying to feed an ego, while the guy in front with the faster car is merely driving, even if they're driving foot to floor. Slower car always gets the jump because the other guy has nothing to prove and no reason to think there is a race coming up.

And that car has WAY more low end torque and power than an S. There is no way you'd keep up with an E46 M3 off the line unless you launched your car.
Couldn't have said it better.

Even with my CTSC stock boost, versus my friends stock E46 M3, it depends on who jumps first. His car is freaking fast.

It takes at least a base supercharger kit on an S just to keep up with an E46 M3. Just cuz the guy has the power doesn't mean he was using it... He was probably cruising away from you partial throttle, I do it all the time and people think I'm racing

A stock S runs high 13s 1/4 mile at best, a stock E46 M3 auto runs about mid 13s (manual is closer to low 13s). And that car has WAY more low end torque and power than an S. There is no way you'd keep up with an E46 M3 off the line unless you launched your car.

6MT E46 M3's can crack 12's in stock form and trap about 7 mph faster than the S2000...that is a considerable difference.
