Me vs. an E36 M3
Nice kill.
I am one of those that believes the E36 M3's and S2000's to be about the same in terms of acceleration.
As for the M roadster and coupes -- I have raced 4 different S2000's in my M coupe, two of them from this board multiple times with similar results -- the M coupe pulls 2-5 cars by 100-110.
Unfortunatly I have never had the chance to reverse that order and race an M anything in my S2000. You see loads of M3's around seattle ... I guess it's a matter of time.

I've never timed any of my cars but my impression is that my M3 was significantly quicker. 0-100 mph times achieved by testers here are generally in the range 12.9-13.5 secs (3 and 3.2 litre). I think the best I've seen for the S2000 is 14.3.
Quickest 'official' 0-100mph time for an S2000 that I can find is 13.8secs. It is from a "Road & Track". In the same comparision a 240hp M-Roadster managed 13.2secs for the same increment. That is a noticable difference.
Though, most tests come back with a low to high 14s for the 0-100mph sprint. Either way even the 240hp M-Roarster is always quicker then the S2000 according to all the tests. The 'rest of the world' 300 - 321hp old M3 or M-Roadster is much quicker then the S2000. Those do 0-100mph in 12s consistanlty.

Man, will Zoran will ever learn? He gets spanked at the track by a 4 door E36 Sedan and he is still talking shit about his S2k being fater than a E36 M3. I guess some people just does not get it
I wouldn't agree with that. An S2000 is harder to drive fast, at 9/10's, than an E36 M3. An E36 is very forgiving and benign on the track. . . there's the rub; it tends to mask mistakes and have good low end grunt to make up some exit speed if you make an error in a corner. It also tends to be more stable under hard trailbraking and trailing throttle oversteer. On the other hand, the S2000 is more rewarding to drive b/c it makes you work smoothly for fast laptimes.
I have a bunch of seat time in both cars. In my E36, I feel like I'm *cheating*.
In addition, some tracks lend themselves to faster times in the S2000, and others in the E36.
The capabilities of both cars on the track are very high. In the end, it'll come down to who's the better driver that day in his chosen machine.

edit: And, as far as your comment on acceleration is concerned, well, that's really only one part of road course performance. Generally speaking, good brakes, sticky tires, and a dialed in suspension are more resonsible for fast laps than hp. I was turning the same laptimes that a 600 rwhp Supra was turning. He was on street tires and stock suspension though.

I hear what you are saying, but thats not what I meant, I know the S is less forgiving but I think both cars driven to there full capabilities stock, the S has the edge
The S has all this and IMO has a more raw race car like feel with GO Kart like handling.

Hey Zoran,
Well I suppose there's a couple of mods here and there. Do coilovers count? j/k.
It was fun out on the track with you. It took me a while to get ya a couple of times, looks like you were really pushing it, which is cool cause you were safe out there. At least we both got to tear up that E46 M3, running a full coilover setup and R comps!
You saw me lifting the inner rear? Shoot, I did not know that. I thought it was only the front.
BTW, you know you are supposed to *lift* when you wave somebody by, right?
