Odd Runs: Story #3 Out Of 3

Cadillac has been using variable displacement technology for years and years now. Hell, in the 90s you could run out of coolant, your engine would run off 4 cylinders, and you could safely drive it home with no damage They also have been using small-displacement DOHC V8s for close to two decades. My father's 300 hp STS weighs ~3700 lbs and gets right around 30 mpg hwy. D-C is playing catch-up, but not everyone knows it. I like their new direction - the 300C and Magnum are sedans and wagons I'd drive, but Lincoln and Cadillac still make better sport sedans and luxo-cruisers, IMHO. I hope Buick goes back to RWD v8 sedans now the 300C and CTS are such hits. BMW and Mercedes will always own the high end market, but their cars have a different design philosophy, which is reflected in the price tag.
And yeah, the hemispherical combustion chamber is nothing specific to the "Hemi," it is just a marketing ploy. However, the "Hemi" name means something more than the combustion chamber design, i.e. V8 power via displacement and quality engineering. There is a reason Hemi blocks are heavily used in the fastest, most powerful "cars" in the world, and why original blocks command a very hefty price tag.
