OK, so here's the story. I was heading home after work in the evening. Rush hour traffic had pretty much cleared and I was on a road that has 3 lanes in each direction - it is a 55 mph zone with stop lights all along this road. I was cruising in the center lane with the top down enjoying the sun on my face (I was heading west). I catch a glimpse in the rearview mirror of a blue car cutting in and out of traffic closing in on me fast. I have found that Spa Yellow makes me a target for lots of things As I roll up to a red light, the blue car jumps through a gap and pulls up on my left side. The driver looks over at me and gives it a few revs. I can tell by the sound of the engine that he either has a CAI or the airbox cover removed. The light turns green and he unloads the car hard. I hadn't even bothered because the next light wasn't too far away and it had just turned red. He gets to the next stop light first and as I roll up, I notice that the car has some aftermarket wheels and exhaust as well. It is badged with VTEC and Type SH. I look over at the guy and give him a "are you joking?" smile. The driver agains revs the hell out of the car and I am getting the picture that he isn't going to stop until I give him a run. So I endulge him. The light turns green and I just roll out and get on it - no sense in eating tires and clutch. The other guy unloaded it real hard. He has the jump on me and is pulling pretty good....for the first 60 feet By the time I pull second gear I am at the rear bumper. I am running to about 8500 RPMs for each gear. At the top of second going into third, we are even. There is no traffic for miles in front of us. Third gear is far and away my favorite gear in the S2000. As I pull through third gear on up to the top, I am really walking away from this guy. I pull fourth gear and he is way back and it looks as though he has given up. I give him the obligatory 4-way flash and slow down.

It was a nice end to the workday. I was able to take him out without having to do *much* over the speed limit. Not a super-exciting story - but fun for my first.

i will havet to agree w/ u guys the lude is a high to mid 14 sec car and yes they are pretty slow...even if u do the basic boltons. i stared a length back at 40 miles an hour and let a lude get a jump on me.....lets put it this way by the time i shifted to 3rd i had already made my car ength back and but a few more good lengths on him. Poor Lude.

now the SH is actually slower than the reg. lude it has ATTS whick stands for a Active Torque Transfer Control...now this helps in the twisty but is just extra weight the lude has pull in a straight line. So dont think that SH is the TypeR version of lude b/c it not. the only diffrence is the ATTS and the Rims.

alrighty then, my little lude lesson is over.

The SH model is slower than the base models (but of course the base has to be a manual). ATTS adds unwanted weight to the car.

I used to own a 1998 Prelude SH. My best run was a 14.754 completely stock, it took a lot of runs to do that though, it can do 14.8-14.9s with a good driver...

They are no match for an s2k as long as the s2k is launched properly or if it is a rolling start...
They are OK fast in 1st and 2nd gears but they get walked by Type Rs in 3rd, I remember getting walked by type Rs when I had the lude.

It's not just the weight. It only adds around 50 pounds. The ATTS itself causes the car to accelerate a little slower then the base prelude.

I think you should be the Test driver for any new Honda that comes up with respect to 1/4 times as it seems you definetely do justice to the cars potential.

For a front-wheel driver, the handling is excellent....maybe not 'Super' & while I wouldn't run mine against my S2k, it is very respectable in it's class
