Ahhh yesh I remember the days with my 00 black lude
After I slapped the type S cams and the AEM cam gears and the pullys, well lets just say that I could take Hybrid civics off the line I miss my baby, but its still no S2K!

I owned a 98 Prelude VTEC. Quick car...but my S2000 would KILL it. My chipped S4....now that would be rape.

it is utterly amazing what some of you call "slow". I consider anything that is at least 7.5 sec. to 60 quick. I reserve very low 14's for the 1/4 fast and anything under 14 very fast.

The prelude's biggest problem is weight. The gearing can be better too, but it was top of class in its day when introduced in 97+. It was the best coupe under 30K until the RSX.

It's all a matter of opinion. IMO, I think a 13 sec car is Fast, 12 sec is Very Fast, 11 sec hold on to your seat fast.

yeah, I consider the S to be "fast". I consider my friends turbo Miata to be very fast. His last timed .25 mile was 13.6. judging by you guys the prelude is slower than I thought it was. I assumed it was like 7.0 sec to 60.

On a second note, it is perhaps one of the best looking imports I have seen in a long time.

i have a 2000 prelude sh also (just got the s2k)

the SH is not appreciably slower than a 97-02 prelude "non-sh," 44lbs of differential isn't going to make a repeatable difference. high 14s are definitely possible stock, as sev pointed out. it is absolutely a high 6 second car 0-60 if driven properly, just as the s2000 is a 5.x second car if driven properly.

mine is going bye-bye soon, but it ended life with a supercharger, fully built bottom end, and a lot of other doodads. it would eat a stock s2000 in a straight line. basic bolt ons don't do much for the lude. great car though... whenever i get rid of it, i will definitely miss it.
