We were screwing around yesterday, I had a friend of mine with me in the car and another friend was driving his RSX type S... We raced about 4 times, I did a off-idle start on the first three and we were almost even with me a bumbper ahead untill I shifted into 3rd gear where I pull away. On the last run I dropped at 6000 rpm and he became a spec in my mirror very quickly...

They are decently fast, especialy with the I-vtec flexbility...

Good point Sev... The RSX S definately shows it's need for tires there.. It's impossible to get a good launch with this car with the stock tires on it. All the RSX folks are saying that the best performance mod for the money is a set of new tires and I agree with that. After tires would be the addition of an LSD. The engine is pretty strong in stock form and anything added to it for HP gains is lost when the wheels break free on the launch or punching it hard in second out of a corner.

Unfortunately the stock rims don't allow for much flexibility when it comes to tire choices. So in the end, we end up having to shell out big bucks to get some decent rubber on the car. I'd love to put some of those s02's on the car. Unfortunately I'd have to put your rears on my front... (Life with a FWD) heh

A friend of mine has a RSX S and he says that the engine is essencially the same as the S2000 engine, he says all he needs to do is have it tuned, and it'll output the same power as the s2k's. is this true? he's actually in the process of having it done.

I believe it may be true, or at least the engine is extremely similar. The RSX Type-R (Japan Version) has the same engine but puts out 20 more horse. It also has a 9000 PRM redline like the s2000.

There was a video floating around of a track race in Japan between the NSX, s2000, RSX-R, WRX and a few others... All cars were totally stock...

The results:

1. NSX
2. RSX-R
3. WRX
4. s2000

Glad to see we took a flame war thread and turned it into an intelligent discussion.

Oh, a WRX STi, forgot to include that detail, eh? those things are running almost 300 hp, no wonder it beat an s2000. that explains a lot

And the RSX Tpe-R is running at about 220HP... Kinda convenient how the fact the RSX took second has dropped off the scope of this thread...

It did look like an awesome race... the NSX was pretty much a shoe-in... The s2000 seemed like it put in a poor performance... Certainly didn't seem like it performed like the cars I've driven with... Nonetheless, it seems these three cars matched up pretty evenly...
