Some guy was driving fast in an AMG C32 last night so i thought i'd tail him and see how fast he would go. Well, i wasn't sure what Mercedes it was but i soon found out it was a FAST one when he pulled away even though i ran up to 9k in persuit on the freeway -- up to 100 or so.

We both pulled off at the next exit and smiled at each other at the stop light. When the light changed we both took off and man that thing hauled ass. Even with the auto, the tires were chirping up a storm and he just blew me away (though i didn't do any crazy high rpm drop clutching or anything when i started off). I have new respect for those cars. Amazing power!

 

A good friend of mine has a C32 AMG. We made many runs when I had the SC...we were usually dead even. Get a blower.

 

what happen to your SC?

 

He traded up to a turbo.

 

Even with a blower, you'd stand no chance against a C32 at a stop light, unless you are willing to drop it @7K and break something every other time (unless you are launching expert).

Some guy posted a video of an SC S2K vs a SLK32. 45-120 or so, pretty close.

 

C32's are very serious performers. Fast as hell..

Could they beat an 03 Cobra?

 

Pretty much all the new and upcoming AMG-Models will be able to beat the '03 Cobra. The Normal 4,000 lb S600 does the 1/4 in mid 12's. E55 is faster. The upcoming S65 AMG model will have around 700HP stock and will murder the S600. SL65 AMG is gonna be 700HP as well and will be faster than the S65.

Mercedes-Benz 2 ton luxury cars are starting to make the '03 Cobra look like nothing when it comes to straight line performance.

 

Come on now...this is simply not the case. Stop believing the goobers at Road and Track and Car and Driver. Probably the biggest misconception. Those who have dropped their tranny's due to a 7K launch are far outnumbered by those who haven't.
Still, the AMG would kick our asses without FI.
